Top 5 Ways to Practice Self-Care this Valentines Day and everyday!

Self-care can take the form of anything that nurtures you on a deep level. It is something that most people do not prioritise but it is essential for a healthy emotional and physical state. Though we often focus on romantic relationships during this time of year, it’s important to start building a loving relationship with yourself. The relationship we have with ourselves is actually the most important and sacred relationship you’ll ever have.

Here are five lovely things to do for yourself today and everyday.

Pamper yourself

Enjoy an Epsom Salt bath with some gorgeous essential oils. As you inhale aromatherapy oils, tiny molecules are absorbed into your bloodstream.

Lavender is the scent most connected to calm and relaxation.

Add five drops to your bath water, light your favourite scented candles, pour yourself a glass of wine and you will be well on your way to a heavenly evening.

Write it out

Write a gratitude journal. The art of expressing gratitude has been linked to many physical and psychological benefits. Start and end each day with three things you are grateful for in life. A daily practice of gratitude is incredibly therapeutic and a fantastic way to lower our stress levels.

Give yourself permission to rest

Try to let go of the need to be constantly busy and take time to create a sense of calm. Allow yourself to rest and slow down, there is magic in resting and relaxing.

Disconnect from Social Media

Take a social media break for the evening. Don’t be tempted to scroll through your phone comparing your relationship to everybody else’s. Sometimes we need to disconnect in order to connect with what really matters. Social media can distract us from reality and ourselves, so enjoy some time in nature or read a good book instead.

Make a Healthy Treat – Chocolate Covered Strawberries

These chocolate covered strawberries are delicious and a great way to include more fresh fruit and antioxidants into your diet without refined sugar. Plus, it’s a healthy treat kids will love too!

Ingredients: Strawberries, dark chocolate

  • Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Rinse the strawberries and pat them dry.
  • Add water to a small saucepan and gently simmer.
  • Place a heatproof bowl on top of the saucepan and add the chocolate.
  • Stir until it melts. Dip the strawberries into the dark chocolate, repeat with the rest of the strawberries.
  • Place the dipped fruit on the lined paper tray and place in the fridge until the chocolate has set.

Enjoy!

This is your day so make it really special.

Happy Valentine’s Day,
